About the Speakers:

Marie VillarrealMarie Villarreal, CCG, is a certified CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) captioner and the founder of Caption Solutions, where she combines her love of travel with her passion for accessibility to provide realtime captioning in educational settings, business meetings, courtrooms, and at high-profile events throughout the U.S. and internationally. She began her CART journey over a decade ago while in the high-speed phase of her court reporting education and quickly discovered a passion for making a lasting, real-time impact on communication access for her consumers. Outside of her captioning work, Marie is dedicated to continually improving her craft by regularly pursuing certifications, deepening her technical knowledge, and staying current with her software. She gives back to the profession through mentorship, speaking with students interested in entering the field, and volunteering as a member of the Captioning Committee for the California Court Reporters Association (CCRA), where she helps support and advocate for the captioning community.

Trish Hui

About Trisha Hui: "I chose court reporting as a meaningful new direction in my career. One that allows me to support causes close to my heart, like animal rescue, while offering the financial means to travel. I'm inspired by the responsibility of preserving the record and excited by the doors this skill can open. I joined CCRA because it's my local association, and I wanted to become more familiar with all the resources and opportunities it offers. Since becoming a member, I've been fortunate to receive sponsorship twice to attend the annual conventions. These experiences have allowed me to network with professionals in the field and gain valuable insight into what it's like to work as a court reporter. CCRA has been incredibly supportive of students and offers continuous educational opportunities that have helped me grow."
