About the Speakers:

Amy ArmstrongAmy Armstrong, CVR-RVR, CART Captioner, is a freelance shorthand writer and instructor with over a decade of experience as a working court reporter and captioner in the Greater Toronto Area, Ontario, Canada. An alumna of the International Realtime Court Reporting Institute, she teaches shorthand theory, Dragon Speech Recognition Engine, and Eclipse CAT softwares. Amy continues to cover complex litigation continentwide, providing realtime transcription in criminal courts, as well as high-profile captioning for world leaders and celebrities. She has served on the Board of Directors of the National Verbatim Reporters Association. As “Stenovox” on Instagram, Amy shares engaging, educational content that challenges industry norms and reimagines the role of the voicewriting stenographer. Amy offers personal coaching, bootcamps, webinars, and in-person continuing education instruction at conventions and conferences across North America.

Jayne Konkel

Jayne Konkel, RCP-M, CVR, is a seasoned CART Captioner with nearly a decade of experience in broadcast and CART Captioning. She is the founder of Path to Captions, LLC, a woman-owned, Texas Veteran Commission Certified business where she mentors, trains, creates educational material and programs, and takes on clients.
Jayne has captioned for a broad range of accessibility needs. From broadcast, large firm training sessions, Nationally recognized organization needs such as Amazon, Google, TED Talks, for Physicist and Neuroscientists, International member states meetings to one-on-one sessions for individuals requiring captioning through the 503 Compliance Act, work and student programs, and more. She is dedicated to promoting inclusion in the industry and advocates for education in technology and voice writing needs, especially through her service on the Board of Directors at STAR.
