CCRA’s 2010 Centennial Convention is a celebration of the past, present, and the future of court reporting!

CCRA has worked hard to provide relevant and outstanding programming in the political hub of California where you will be able to experience all of the historical charm of California’s Capitol city. We have a very exciting afternoon planned at the Capitol where you can hone your lobbying and legislative skills or sit back and watch our legislative process in action. Earn up to 1.90 CEUs and see the industry’s premier vendors in the exhibit hall. Enjoy the many networking sessions and enjoy learning about the past, present and future of the court reporting profession.

Our keynote address will be given by Thomas Crum. Thomas Crum is an author and presenter in the fields of conflict resolution, peak performance, and stress management.  He is known throughout the world for the Thomas Crum Approach, taught through best-selling books including The Magic of Conflict, Three Deep Breaths, and Journey to Center, as well as audio and visual materials and live presentations for management and employees at all levels in corporations, government and non-profit organizations.  Thomas Crum will help you to transform conflict into opportunity and stress into vitality. Experience mind-body skills for relaxation, heightened awareness and clearer focus that will enhance your ability to achieve peak performance in any activity that you choose without increasing stress. For over 30 years, Tom has been a teacher of Aikido, a graceful martial art which uses energy rather than force to resolve conflicts, and he includes principles and movements from Aikido, Tai Chi Chuan, Qi gong, and other mind-body arts in his presentations.

Our social events kick off Friday evening with a hosted cocktail reception. Saturday’s events include a cocktail party in the Capitol Rotunda followed by a Mardi Gras night, including dinner, at the Sheraton Grand. Enjoy a nightcap in the Presidential Suite on Friday and Saturday evenings.

The 2010 CCRA Convention is a great value. Conference registration includes  four receptions, 2 breakfasts, 2 lunches, and 1 dinner.  Bring your family and make this minivacation.  Treat yourself to all of the historic charm that Sacramento has to offer.

The CCRA room rate at the Sheraton Grand is $139 per night, single or double. On a budget? Share a room with a friend.

The Sheraton Grand is located in the beautifully restored historic Public Market Building and situated in the heart of downtown Sacramento, across the street from the state capitol.  SPECIAL ACTIVITIES

WELCOME RECEPTION

Join us on Friday from 7 - 9 p.m. at our welcome reception at the Sheraton Grand.  Network with your friends and peers while enjoying a beverage of your choice and some tasty hors d'oeuvres.

PACCRA 5K RUN/WALK

All attendees and family members are invited to participate in the Run on the Capitol 2010 presented by PACCRA on Saturday, October 16.  The Run on the Capitol is a great way to stay in shape while experiencing the thrill of crossing the finish line at the Sheraton Grand Sacramento.  Participants in the Run on the Capitol can choose to compete in the 5K run, the 3-mile walk, or be a virtual runner. Medals will be presented to the first three finishers.  Each runner/walker/virtual will receive their official time and a commemorative CCRA Centennial hat.  If running or walking is not your thing, we have the perfect solution for you, a Virtual Runner.  You can start, run and finish your race from bed with a simple $50 donation to PACCRA.

ASSEMBLY MOCK FLOOR SESSION - Assembly Video

Members of CCRA will occupy the seats of current California Assembly members and hold a mock floor session.   It is here where most Assembly bills have their final hearing before going to the Governor for his signature or veto.  The goal is an educational one, so the association's members can actually see what goes on within the Assembly chambers.  We will debate a couple of bills and have some surprises in store for the participants and members occupying the gallery.

CAPITOL COCKTAIL PARTY

Light hors d'oeuvres and cocktails in the Capitol Rotunda on Saturday evening.

MARDI GRAS NIGHT

Saturday night is a celebration.  Dinner and dancing are just of few the things we have lined up for you.  Join the party!

LATE NIGHT RECEPTIONS

Enjoy a nightcap in the Presidential Suite on Friday or Saturday evening.
