WE ARE AWARE!

10-01-11

CCRA is aware, as I'm sure many of our members are, that a past president of NCRA has gone to work for FTR, For the Record, a digital recording firm.

In communications with NCRA, they have assured us that they are dealing with the situation and looking into any possible legal ramifications.

Recording has been in existence for as long as I can remember, and CCRA will continue to do what we've always done. Fight the fight!

We have a lobbyist whom we employ to present our issues to the legislators and legislature. We have members who watch and monitor all bills that have anything to do with recording. We testify on our profession's behalf any time there may be a vote that could endanger court reporting. We conduct legislative visits in district offices as well as in Sacramento. We conduct seminars, such as our California Action Team Training (CATT), to educate and train our members on the legislative process so they too can participate in preserving and protecting our profession.

CCRA will fully dedicate our time and resources to issues that are relevant and realistic, and will continue to fight against recording, and will do everything in our power to make sure that reporters continue to be employed.

Sincerely,
Debby Steinman
President, CCRA
